About Me

Hello!

My name is Zach Nichols and I am a professional wedding and travel photographer living in Spokane, WA. Since I was young, I always loved taking photos; often capturing them on my parent’s point and shoot camera and later on my smartphone while on trips or hiking outdoors with friends. However, it was not until dating my girlfriend (and now wife) back in 2016 that I bought my first real DSLR camera.

Having a professional camera opened up endless possibilities I did not have before when using my smartphone. I grew in photography and soaked up all the information I could learn from friends and the internet. I began to take photos of the landscapes and adventures I went on and learned how to use a camera to its fullest extent to capture the outdoors.

However, how did I get into photographing people? That is a good question. When I started traveling, I re-activated my Instagram account to share my adventures with my friends and family. I began documenting my experiences and branched into a landscape/lifestyle hybrid side of photography. I started including people in my landscapes to add a human element. 

As time passed, I continued to hone my skill and learn what I could from the internet and gained a lot of experience. Then, in the winter of 2016 I was fortunate to have a wedding photographer in my area, Brent Looyenga, reach out to me after seeing some of my work. The following year, I worked alongside him, learning everything I could. I really started to grow in my ability to photograph people. I also grew my understanding of proper lighting, angles, and posing.

In 2017, decided to start my own business and by the end of the year, it became my full time profession and only job. Since then, my business has continued to grow and flourish. I have had the opportunity to photograph well over 150 weddings and have loved every second of it. I have since also opened a photo booth company, Simple Booth Spokane. There is nothing like capturing the moments and memories of others on one of the most special days of their lives.

I attribute most of my success to my foundational principles. I strive to conduct myself with honor and integrity. I believe that photography is a powerful thing and always strive to do unto others as I would have them do to me. I have had many bad experiences with photographers in the past and so I have taken those experiences and tailored everything I do around giving my clients the best experience possible. I never want them to feel taken advantage of in any way and want them to walk away from the experience feeling empowered and excited about their photos.

As far as my personal life, I have a beautiful family consisting of two kiddos and my wife, Tiffany, who also happens to be an incredible wedding photographer. When I have free time I still love to travel and spend time in the outdoors; however, I now have a few of the best hiking buddies I could ask for.
