My name is Zach Nichols and I am a photographer living in Spokane, WA. I have always loved photography; shooting photos while on trips or hikes with my smartphone or point-and-shoot until I finally decided to take the leap and buy myself a professional camera in February of 2016.
I originally bought a camera to better capture the landscapes and scenery from the trips I often went on. I grew up in the outdoors; practically living outside in my pre-teen years. As I grew older, I got into backpacking, camping, and also became a rock climbing instructor.
Having a professional camera opened up countless possibilities I did not have before when using my smartphone. I grew in photography and soaked up all the information I learned from friends and the internet. I began to shoot photos of the stars and learned how to blend and edit landscapes.
However, how did I get into photographing people? That is a good question. When I got my camera, I re-activated my Instagram account because I wanted to share my adventures with my friends and family. I began documenting my experiences and adventures; both people and landscapes. From there, I branched into a landscape/lifestyle hybrid side of photography. I wanted people in my landscapes to add a human element.
Then, during the summer of 2016, came my first wedding. A co-worker of mine was getting married and asked if I would photograph their special day. It was an honor but I was honestly very nervous! I had done graduation and family photos before this and had considered getting into weddings but this was my first opportunity to do so. I fell in love with it.
As time passed by, I continued to hone my skill and learn what I could from the internet and on-site experience. Then, in the winter of 2016 I was fortunate to have an extremely well known professional wedding photographer in my area, Brent Looyenga, reach out to me after seeing some of my work. I worked alongside him throughout the next year as his second photographer until the yeah after when my own business took off. I have photographed over 60 weddings to date. It had been a blessing and I love every single day I get to capture the memories of others.
As far as my personal life, I have a beautiful family with one son. When I have free time I still love to travel and spend time in the outdoors; however, I now have a couple of the best hiking buddies who I try to take with me as much as possible.
Thank you for your interest in getting to know a little bit about me and for checking out my website. I look forward to working with you to capture your special moments and memories!
