Beacon Hill Wedding - Janelle & Jon

Beacon Hill Wedding - Janelle & Jon

Beacon Hill is one of my all-time favorite wedding venues in Spokane. This last summer, I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding there for Janelle and Jon and it was absolutely incredible. It was a smoky day in July but the smoke only made the light more beautiful and warm. They got ready indoors then we made our way outside for the first look and family photos.

Afterward, it was time for the ceremony.

And then it was off to the reception! If you have never been to Beacon Hill before, the food is always incredible; one could make an argument that it is second to none.

Right after their dinner, we went out for some “sunset” photos before the sun dropped below the smoke layer. We also got some pretty incredible shots by the pond that were some of the most unique I’ve seen.

Then we made our way back for the dances and open dancing to finish out the night.

After the couple said goodbye to their guests, I asked them if they would like to take a quick photo up by the pond once more. The horizon was glowing gold from the sun set and the glow faded into the dark blue of the night. It was super cool and I am glad they said yes!

I often get questions from couples who are concerned about getting married on smoky days. They always ask if the photos will turn out good or not and I hope this serves as a great example of how the smoke can add a unique element to a wedding day. In general, the light is much softer which is great for photos and the added warmth is also really nice. Thank you to this amazing couple for hiring me for their wedding.
