Davenport Hotel Wedding - Spokane Wedding Venue Vendor Review

General Information About Davenport Hotel Weddings

Over the last few years, I have had the opportunity to do wedding photography at the Davenport Hotel on multiple occasions. The Davenport is located in downtown Spokane and consists of the Davenport Grand, Historic Davenport, and the Davenport Tower.

This hotel is one of the best indoor wedding venues in Spokane and is perfect for brides looking for an elegant wedding. The Historic Davenport is the most common place for brides to get married as the building offers many ballrooms and options that are perfect a wedding. Each ballroom is unique and incredibly beautiful. Within the Historic Davenport, there are three ballrooms and two other rooms that are typically used for weddings. These rooms are the Isabella Ballroom, Grand Pennington Ballroom, Marie Antoinette Ballroom, Elizabethan Room, and the Hall of The Doges.

Most wedding ceremonies take place in the Isabella Ballroom and the Marie Antoinette Ballroom though I have personally photographed a wedding in the Hall of the Doges as well. The most common reception rooms are also the Marie Antionette Ballroom and the Grand Pennington Ballroom/ Hall of the Doges (the Hall of Doges is the entrance to the Grand Pennington).

When brides get married at the Davenport, it is common for them to get ready in one of the hotel’s many rooms. The rooms have beautiful lighting that comes in through the windows and is not a bad place to get getting-ready photos. The hotel also boasts beautiful lobbies with elegant, bright, marble flooring and beautiful decor; perfect for photos of the details from wedding rings to shoes.

Ceremony Locations

As previously stated, most wedding ceremonies take place in the Isabella Ballroom and the Marie Antoinette Ballroom. Both are beautiful but have a very different feel. The Isabella Ballroom has beautiful marble pillars on the outside of the room leading up to the front; complete with small chandeliers along the columns and marble floors that match the columns as well. The ceilings are very tall but not as tall as the ones found in the Marie Antoinette Ballroom.

The Marie Antionette Ballroom is a ballroom consisting of two floors. The main floor has wooden flooring with a carpet layer around the outside of the room. The walls are a similar color to the Isabella ballroom (being of off-white color) and there are three magnificent chandeliers along the ceiling of the ballroom. The second floor has an attached bridal suite that many brides choose to get ready in and an indoor balcony that guests can (though rarely do) use for seating if there is need for overflow.

Wedding Receptions

Most wedding receptions that I have photographed take place in the Marie Antionette Ballroom or the Grand Pennington; though I have seen receptions in the Isabella Ballroom as well. The location of the reception mainly depends on the number of guests. The Isabella is the smallest followed by the Marie Antoinette and the Grand (being the largest of the three). I have loved photographing wedding receptions in all the rooms within the Davenport but always feel the Marie Antionette is the most beautiful photographically and by personal taste.

Reception dinners at the Davenport are also incredible. I have yet to have a bad meal which should be expected by the status of the hotel (being upper-end). Meals are generally served by the plate versus buffet style as is common with most other venues in Spokane.

Summary

The Davenport is an incredible indoor wedding venue for brides looking for and elegant wedding. If you end up choosing this venue, you will certainly not regret it. It has some of the most beautiful ballrooms for ceremonies and receptions in the Northwest. The elegant feel cannot be found at any other indoor wedding venues in Spokane.

Finally, capturing amazing wedding photography within the Davenport can be challenging for most photographers so make sure to be careful who you choose. Check their indoor wedding photography portfolio or ask to see some of their work. If they are unwilling to work with you in this request then it may be a sign to look elsewhere.
